St. Timothy Life

Vicar Wayne Olson began his official ministry at St. Timothy on December 2, 2007, with an installation service conducted by Rev. James Jaekel, Vice President of the First District of the Atlantic District. Following the service, a catered reception was held at St. James Episcopal Church in Hyde Park. The St. Timothy Council, under the direction of President John Knight, worked tirelessly to arrange a beautiful and meaningful ceremony and reception for Vicar Olson.

Vicar Olson was born in Aurora, Illinois, and has lived in the Hudson Valley since 1969, when he accepted an engineering position with IBM in Poughkeepsie. He currently lives in Kingston with his wife, Linda. They have four children - Matthew, Timothy, Bill and Marin.

While at the University of Illinois he became interested in the ministry, but felt the time was not right to pursue that interest. Throughout the years, the idea of becoming a minister stayed with him. A couple of years ago the opportunity to fulfill a desire to be in service to the church so Vicar Olson began his studies with wonderful encouragement from family, friends, and the Atlantic District office. Vicar Olson holds advanced degrees from Syracuse and George Washington Universities. He is also a certified project manager. He is currently enrolled at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, as a student in the DELTO (Distance Education Leading to Ordination). While continuing his theological studies, he fulfills the requirements of the program to be actively engaged in parish ministry.

Vicar Olson retired from IBM in December, 2008, and is now devoting more time to St. Timothy. He completed his last seminary class on February 18, 2012.
